Blog Title and how it came to be
A Health, Food, and Fitness Journal:
I created a Pinterest page to keep all my cool inspirations and recipes in one place. On it I have a few great quotes I found that inspired me. One of my favorite says. "Whatever the problem, the answer is not in the fridge." I really loved that. It spoke to me because I, like many people, turn to food when I'm having almost any kind of emotion.
If I'm bored, I look for a snack. If I'm stressed out I look for junk food, fast food or candy. Some source of high sugar, high fat, packed with carbohydrates and calories through the roof type "Food" if you will. I put food in Quotation marks because I think we all know there is no real food in that kind of "Food".
But boy does it make me feel good. I feel warm and safe and happy and full for about 15 minutes. Then that inevitable feeling of guilt, shame, disgust with my lack of control over what I stuff in my mouth takes over. Not to mention the "what goes up must come down" philosophy. My sugars spike and then drop and I am dragging, Sometimes even shaking! I think to myself, "Self! Why are you doing this?"
When I read this quote, I literally saw an image of the thousands of times I have been planted in front of the fridge-door hanging open-just staring at a smorgasbord of food options.
I never took the time to associate the feelings I was experiencing with why I was planted in front of the fridge. We all know what comfort food is, and why we turn to food when we Feel. But have you ever thought-in that moment-what am I really feeling? For me is was almost never actual hunger. Or maybe it was hunger for something real that my body could use and burn and thank me for..
All this to say I was inspired to name my Blog after this quote. "It's Not in the Fridge."
I will post a daily journal about food. How I relate to food. What I have learned about myself on this journey and what kind of changes I'm seeing in myself physically and emotionally. I may be a bit frank at times but the only way I can make positive changes inside is to be truthful with myself. About my past habits and how they landed me at 278 lbs. How I plan to break those patterns and form new ones and the road to getting there.
Other Quotes I enjoyed:
"Those who think they have no time for healthy eating, will sooner or later have to find time for illness."
"You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great."
"When you THINK ABOUT quitting, think about why YOU started."
"It's not always easy, but it is always worth it."
"If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results."
"Don't give up what you want most for what you want right now."
"Losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Pick your hard."
